Healthcare Data Technology Firm’s Three-Year Revenue Growth of 103%
Earns First Time Ranking

Inc. recently revealed the debut of Kythera Labs to the ranks of the 2024 Inc. 5000, the annual list of the fastest-growing private companies in America. The prestigious ranking provides a data-driven look at the most successful companies within the economy’s most dynamic segment—its independent, entrepreneurial businesses. Microsoft, Meta, Chobani, Under Armour, Timberland, Oracle, Patagonia, and many other household-name brands gained their first national exposure as honorees on the Inc. 5000.

Kythera Labs, a data technology company that unifies data science and data technology to enable higher fidelity in healthcare data for healthcare and life sciences organizations, ranked #73 in the Nashville metro area and #4,249 nationally in its first ever appearance on the Inc. 5000 list.

“We’re incredibly proud to be recognized on the Inc. 5000 list among so many other successful companies,” said Jeff McDonald, CEO and co-founder of Kythera Labs. “Kythera’s mission is to help the healthcare industry innovate and reach answers faster and more cost efficiently. With the recent advances in technology, especially machine learning and AI, we’re excited to capitalize on our momentum by providing the solutions and data necessary to improve healthcare.”

Kythera data technology transforms multi-source data into answer-ready information, and access to the nationwide Medicare claims expands Kythera’s ability to help its customers innovate across the health care and life sciences spectrum.

For complete results of the Inc. 5000, including company profiles and an interactive database that can be sorted by industry, location, and other criteria, go to www.inc.com/inc5000. All 5000 companies are featured on Inc.com starting Tuesday, August 13, and the top 500 appear in the new issue of Inc. magazine, available on newsstands beginning Tuesday, August 20.

“One of the greatest joys of my job is going through the Inc. 5000 list,” says Mike Hofman, who recently joined Inc. as editor-in-chief. “To see all of the intriguing and surprising ways that companies are transforming sectors, from health care and AI to apparel and pet food, is fascinating for me as a journalist and storyteller. Congratulations to this year’s honorees, as well, for growing their businesses fast despite the economic disruption we all faced over the past three years, from supply chain woes to inflation to changes in the workforce.”

More about Inc. and the Inc. 5000

Methodology
Companies on the 2024 Inc. 5000 are ranked according to percentage revenue growth from 2020 to 2023. To qualify, companies must have been founded and generating revenue by March 31, 2020. They must be U.S.-based, privately held, for-profit, and independent—not subsidiaries or divisions of other companies—as of December 31, 2023. (Since then, some on the list may have gone public or been acquired.) The minimum revenue required for 2020 is $100,000; the minimum for 2023 is $2 million. As always, Inc. reserves the right to decline applicants for subjective reasons. Growth rates used to determine company rankings were calculated to four decimal places.

Introduced in first quarter, moving volumes of data for AI and analytics

Airbyte, the leading open data movement platform, today announced that its PyAirbyte open-source Python library, that was introduced in late February, has helped more than 10,000 AI and data engineers to sync over 6 billion records of data. Users have completed more than 221,000 PyAirbyte sync jobs, or over 10,000 syncs per week. PyAirbyte now boasts an average of 25,000 monthly downloads, according to metrics from the popular PyPi Python package repository.

Since its launch in February, PyAirbyte has seen an impressive 38 releases, averaging one update every three business days. This release cadence underscores the ongoing enhancements and active community engagement, with 17 contributors, 11 of whom are from the user community plus six Airbyte developers.

Significant community contributions have enhanced PyAirbyte’s capabilities, including the following features: Docker executor and networking support; integration with Apache Arrow; support for FastAPI and other web frameworks; an expanded set of BigQuery authentication options; and other numerous bug fixes and improvements.

Users extract data to populate AI frameworks like LangChain and LlamaIndex and facilitate building LLM-powered applications. Also popular among users is moving data from Amazon, Facebook, Google, Hubspot, and Salesforce to make data-driven marketing decisions. Next most popular is help desk or IT related with data from Jira, GitHub, and Zendesk. PyAirbyte consolidates data from various sources for analysis to improve decision making.

PyAirbyte makes it easy to move data across API sources and destinations by enabling Airbyte resources to be created and managed using code, rather than the user interface (UI), providing a natural fit into the coding workflow. Python users have access to Airbyte’s more than 250 data connectors – rather than having to build and maintain those themselves. Airbyte is the first to provide Python users this capability with availability of over 250 connectors.

“With a majority of existing data pipelines written in Python today, we expected PyAirbyte to be popular but it has exceeded our expectations,” said Michel Tricot, co-founder and CEO, Airbyte. “We’ve seen more than 150 unique data sources used to move data to destinations, like AI frameworks and data warehouses.”

Python is a popular programming language for data engineers because of its simplicity, versatility, and scalability. It also offers a wide range of libraries and frameworks for data manipulation, exploration, and visualization. Python easily integrates with tools commonly used in data analysis and data science, such as SQL databases, Hadoop, and Spark.

PyAirbyte is an addition to the Airbyte API and Terraform Provider, which enable programmatic management of Airbyte resources, streamlining workflows and integrating Airbyte configurations with existing data infrastructure. Other deployment models include Airbyte Open Source, Airbyte Self-Managed Enterprise, Airbyte Cloud, and Powered by Airbyte.

As part of the June 2023 PyAirbyte & AI Hackathon, 11 new feature contributions were accepted, further enhancing PyAirbyte and its AI-related connectors. Additionally, 25 new tutorials were created to help guide new community members to leverage PyAirbyte for generative AI use cases.

Airbyte makes moving data easy and affordable across almost any source and destination, helping enterprises provide their users with access to the right data for analysis and decision-making. With more than 900 contributors, Airbyte has the largest data engineering contributor community and the best tooling to build and maintain connectors.

Funding Co-Led by Inovia Capital & Tola Capital Brings AI-Driven Software to the Biopharma Industry With First Product Reliant Tabular

Reliant AI, a provider of gen AI-powered data analytics software, announced today its launch out of stealth with $11.3 million in seed funding. The new capital was co-led by Tola Capital and Inovia Capital, with participation from angel investor Mike Volpi.

Reliant AI was created by leading Natural Language Processing and Reinforcement Learning  scientists and researchers Karl Moritz Hermann, Marc Bellemare and Richard Schlegel who led teams at DeepMind, Google Brain and EY Parthenon. They’re passionate about how generative AI can solve information challenges to reduce repetitive mental labor and accelerate decision making for enterprises. The company is initially targeting the biopharma industry and will use the new funding to hire engineering talent to expand its technology investment and footprints in Europe and North America.

“Information and data are a critically overlooked part of making the life sciences progress to bring about a better world. The sheer amount of menial labor involved in data-intensive industries today means that many highly skilled professionals are focused on wrangling data, rather than solving complex issues. We created an AI system that understands the life sciences to radically grow its capacity to perform research at scale,” said Karl Moritz Hermann, CEO and Co-Founder of Reliant AI.

Reliant AI’s first product, Reliant Tabular, is an AI workbench that is attracting significant interest across key business segments in the biopharma industry. The product helps life science analysts find scientific evidence for their decisions through automated systematic reviews, asset scans, comprehensive analyses, and a customizable data platform – with Reliant AI, anything can be queried.

    Features of Reliant Tabular include:

    • Proprietary ML models optimized to be experts in biopharma topics
    • Comprehensive approach to fact-finding – maximizing recall so that nothing gets missed
    • User interface that makes it quick and easy to reconcile generated results with ground truth evidence
    • Answers in a report-ready format so that teams can collaborate on analyses

“The biopharma industry has a massive and underserved information need. Reliant AI blends cutting-edge research with domain expertise to create software that makes it possible for a day’s worth of data wrangling to be done in 30 seconds. Marc, Karl Moritz and their technical team bring together decades of AI expertise from the world’s best research groups, such as DeepMind, Google Brain, and Meta, giving Reliant the ability to really move the needle on the application of generative AI to hard data problems,” said Aaron Fleishman, Partner at Tola Capital.

“We see a significant market opportunity in the pharmaceutical sector, as companies strive to build and partner with new entrants to develop innovative solutions like those offered by Reliant AI,” said Steve Woods, Partner at Inovia Capital. “This notable demand in a large and growing market underscores the potential of AI to drive impactful advancements in the biopharma industry.”

“Reliant AI has significantly increased my efficiency by rapidly parsing relevant data, allowing me to focus on deeper analysis and faster turnaround times. This technology promises to revolutionize how early commercial assessments are conducted,” said Miguel Silva, Strategy Director at OMass Therapeutics.
