Orby AI (Orby), a technology trailblazer in generative AI solutions for the enterprise, today announced that it has partnered with Databricks, the Data and AI company, to empower a new era of enterprise automation powered by the industry’s first Large Action Model (LAM) from Orby.

Orby has now joined Databricks’ Built On Partner Program and is leveraging Databricks Mosaic AI to pretrain, build, deploy and monitor its innovative Large Action Model, ActIO, a deep learning model able to interpret actions and perform complex tasks based on user inputs.

“As the demand for data intelligence increases, Orby’s AI innovations are a real game changer in enabling enterprise automations that require truly cognizant reasoning,” said Naveen Rao, VP of Generative AI at Databricks.

“Orby’s unique LAM approach gives organizations the ability to complete tasks with increasing complexity and variability, easily automating complex tasks that, until now, just hasn’t been possible or practical,” Rao concluded.

LARGE ACTION MODEL TAKING CENTER STAGE

Unlike conventional Large Language Model (LLMs) approaches, which focus on interpreting language and generating responses, Orby’s unique Large Action Model (LAM), observes actions to automate tasks and make decisions.

Orby’s LAM simply observes a user at work, learns what can be automated, and creates the actions to implement it. Users then approve the process and can modify the actions at any time, this allows continuous improvement as Orby learns more.

Making generative AI truly useful for the enterprise requires incredible amounts of variable inputs to enable rapid contextual reasoning. Today’s open source and proprietary LLMs are trained on massive amounts of data, but of only one modality: language. Other multimodal models may allow for variable inputs but lack the complex planning and visual grounding capabilities necessary to translate these inputs into enterprise-ready actions that reason, adjust, continuously learn and improve. Large Action Models are uniquely suited to empower enterprise efficiency, but first must be trained on massive amounts of data across multiple modalities.

“Databricks Mosaic AI makes it possible to build a multimodal training pipeline at a scale that is essential for delivering unrivaled performance, accuracy and stability,” said Will Lu, Co-Founder and CTO of Orby.

AMN Healthcare Language Services (AMN LS), a leading provider of language solutions for the healthcare industry, today announced the launch of its newest offering – Strategic Partnership Solutions (SPS) – created to transform language access programs in healthcare organizations by providing comprehensive language services and strategic support to organizations. SPS will take on the operational responsibility as an in-house language service department for health systems and organizations by partnering with healthcare providers.

Through the offering, an organization can gain access to a range of core language services, including video remote interpreting, over-the-phone interpreting, in-person interpreting, and translation. In addition, SPS will offer wraparound services and solutions tailored to the specific needs of each organization, determined through a thorough analysis and evaluation of their language access program.

“Operating a language service department has traditionally been seen as a cost associated with doing business. With SPS, we are changing this narrative and redefining language services as a strategic part of patient care that instead has the ability to reduce cost by addressing common issues like longer lengths of stay, missed appointments and higher readmissions driven by a lack of language service resources,” said Jacobia Solomon, President, AMN Language Services. “The launch of SPS represents a significant milestone for the healthcare industry, and we are proud to be at the forefront of this innovative approach to language access in healthcare.”

SPS addresses common challenges faced by healthcare organizations, including limited resources, high staff turnover, compliance issues, and difficulty in serving limited English proficient populations. By leveraging AMN Healthcare’s industry and operational expertise, SPS aims to enhance the reliability, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness of language access programs while improving patient outcomes. Leaders at Yuma Regional Medical Center, an SPS pilot site, have begun experiencing the solution’s effects.

“Our staff have been very impressed with the speed at which our patients are getting connected with an interpreter and with the quality of the interpretation that is occurring,” said Tina Rube, Director of Patient Experience & Care Advocacy for Yuma Regional Medical Center. “We finally have the resources to fully provide for our many non-English speaking patients.”

(NASDAQ: AVGO), which recently acquired VMware, today announced developments across its Software-Defined Edge product portfolio to enable enterprises to support Edge AI workloads via new and enhanced connectivity, deployment, and lifecycle management capabilities, including: Combined Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) and satellite connections support in the VMware VeloCloud Edge 710...

Broadcom Inc. (NASDAQ: AVGO), which recently acquired VMware, today announced developments across its Software-Defined Edge product portfolio to enable enterprises to support Edge AI workloads via new and enhanced connectivity, deployment, and lifecycle management capabilities, including:

  • Combined Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) and satellite connections support in the VMware VeloCloud Edge 710 appliance as well as the new VMware VeloCloud Edge 720 and 740 appliances.
  • VMware VeloCloud SASE, secured by Symantec enhancements featuring the integration of VeloCloud and Symantec points of presence (PoPs).
  • VMware Edge Compute Stack product enhancements.

According to IDC, worldwide spending on edge computing is expected to be $232 billion in 2024, an increase of 15.4% over 2023. Edge computing is expected to play a pivotal role in the deployment of AI applications. (1) Broadcom is evolving its software-defined edge portfolio to help enterprises address the growth of AI and non-AI workloads at the edge. Edge AI workloads are deployed at geographically dispersed locations to enhance business operations in order to reduce costs, increase sales or improve compliance. Unlike traditional IT workloads which are centralized at the data center, Edge AI workloads such as video inference cameras, industrial control systems, and other OT (Operational Technology) devices and applications are deployed locally and are largely autonomous, they are orchestrated rather than administered, they consume data where it’s being created, and are driven by the lines of business.

Broadcom defines the software-defined edge as distributed digital infrastructure for connecting, securing and running workloads across a number of locations, close to endpoints that are producing or consuming data. It extends to where the users and devices are – in the office, on the road, in a cell site, at a retail store or on the factory floor. Broadcom addresses the three layers of the software-defined edge: the edge compute stack which hosts the applications and workloads; the intelligent overlay where connectivity and security services run across the WAN; and the underlay network layer, which runs the software for network connectivity across fixed and 5G networks to provide orchestration and network programmability.

“We’re focused on enabling enterprises to adopt Edge AI workloads,” said Sanjay Uppal, vice president and general manager, Software-Defined Edge Division, Broadcom. “We’ve announced support for Fixed Wireless Access and satellite connections in VMware VeloCloud Edge to deliver critical, blended connectivity for OT devices as well as AI and non-AI edge workloads. We uniquely offer enterprises a good, better, best approach to connectivity at the edge by allowing them to tweak real-time WAN performance, gain insights from the network, and program the network. This convergence of the underlay network enables enterprises to build networks in minutes to support today’s and tomorrow’s workloads.”

Integrated FWA and Satellite Support to Enhance Connectivity for Edge AI Workloads
To address the need for more robust connectivity to support edge computing and Edge AI workloads, Broadcom today announced enhancements to the VMware VeloCloud Edge 710 appliance as well as introduced new VMware VeloCloud Edge 720 and 740 appliances. VeloCloud Edge 710 now provides enterprises with a combination of broadband, FWA, and satellite connections to significantly improve real-time voice, video, and application traffic – delivering enhanced connectivity at the edge. This blended connectivity provides enterprises with redundant, always-on connectivity for edge devices and workloads. Additionally, Communication Service Providers (CSPs) can use the VeloCloud Edge 710, 720, and 740 appliances to further modernize their infrastructure and monetize their services by delivering a premium, combined SD-WAN, FWA, and satellite offering to enterprise customers in support of their edge deployments. CSPs running both VeloCloud SD-WAN and VMware Telco Cloud Platform benefit from the ability to program the real-time performance of their WAN using insights from their networks. Read more in the blog post, “Unveiling the Future of Networking: VMware VeloCloud SD-WAN Edges 710-5G, 720, and 740.”

PoP Integration Boosts Enterprise Connectivity to the Cloud
To better assist enterprises with cloud connectivity, Broadcom today announced initial integration of VeloCloud SD-WAN points of presence (PoPs) with Symantec PoPs. This integration will further automate cloud access without compromising performance and security. VeloCloud SASE, secured by Symantec customers will also benefit from higher bandwidth and availability, lower latency, and global reach to major cloud and SaaS providers. Earlier this year, Broadcom announced the availability of VeloCloud SASE, secured by Symantec—a single-vendor SASE solution. The solution is a culmination of a joint effort to integrate best-in-class VeloCloud SD-WAN and Symantec Security Service Edge (SSE) capabilities—extending significant benefits to Broadcom’s VeloCloud and Symantec customers.

Simplifying Edge AI Workload Deployment and Lifecycle Management
The distributed nature of the edge produces numerous challenges for enterprises and their respective IT teams—from managing edge devices, applications, and infrastructure across multiple if not hundreds or thousands of locations. Enterprises are investing in solutions that enable zero-touch provisioning and application lifecycle management to accelerate the turnkey deployment of secure edge environments. An edge-optimized runtime and orchestration platform, VMware Edge Compute Stack delivers frictionless management of edge apps and infrastructure across many sites with limited resources. With its latest two releases, VMware Edge Compute Stack delivered critical capabilities to efficiently manage infrastructure and applications including Edge AI apps and workloads such as Small Language Models (SLMs) at dispersed sites, including:

  • Zero-Touch Orchestration: VMware Edge Cloud Orchestrator simplifies deployment and application lifecycle management across multiple sites by leveraging GitOps and desired state management. By automating these processes, enterprises enable consistent and efficient operations, even with limited IT resources.
  • Pull-Based Architecture: Hosts always initiate the communication to the management plane as a keepalive, and also to fetch any changes to its configuration. This architecture puts less burden on the management plane, allowing it to achieve a much higher scale.
  • Edge Infrastructure and Application Monitoring: It configures metrics gathering and transmission for infrastructure, virtual machines, and Kubernetes-based workloads. Customers can achieve comprehensive local edge monitoring in minutes with the included sample implementation of industry-standard monitoring tools and pre-built dashboards.

These capabilities simplify deploying and managing Edge AI workloads enabling enterprises to more quickly realize the business benefits of their Edge AI investments. The recent release of VMware Edge Compute Stack 3.6 delivered additional new features to make it even easier to deploy and manage the edge at scale.

Rapid customer adoption of vendor-agnostic data management drives oversubscribed Series E round led by GV (Google Ventures), including General Partner and former GitLab CRO Michael McBride who joins Cribl’s Board of Directors

Cribl, the Data Engine for IT and Security, today announced it has closed a $319 million oversubscribed Series E round, comprised of a combined primary and secondary transaction, bringing the company’s total capital secured to over $600 million and increasing its valuation to $3.5 billion, up 40% since the company’s Series D round in 2022.

The round was led by new investor GV (Google Ventures), marking one of the firm’s largest-ever investments. The investment was led by GV General Partner and former GitLab CRO Michael McBride, who joined Cribl’s Board of Directors. GIC, CapitalG, IVP, and CRV also participated in the round. This funding comes on the heels of Cribl surpassing $100 million in annual recurring revenue (ARR) in less than four years, becoming the fourth-fastest infrastructure company to reach centaur status in October 2023.

As enterprise data grows at a 28% CAGR, far outpacing IT budget growth, legacy vendors and point solutions make it challenging for customers to keep up with the volume, variety, and value of data. Cribl’s vendor-agnostic solutions empower customers to analyze, collect, process, and route all IT and security data to unlock its value. Since its inception in 2018, Cribl has seen unparalleled growth as enterprises around the world rapidly adopt the Data Engine for IT and Security to transform their data strategies. Cribl’s telemetry data management solutions drive significant value for enterprises, evidenced by:

    • ARR Growth: The company’s ARR has grown at a 163% CAGR for the last four years;
    • Customer Growth: The customer base has grown by triple digits YoY for five straight years, including a quarter of the Fortune 500 companies that are now Cribl customers;
    • NDR: Customers continue to grow and expand with Cribl as the company boasts a net dollar retention (NDR) of over 130% over the past 12 months;
    • Multi-product Adoption: Customers purchasing multiple products across the portfolio increased by over 300% over the past 12 months.

“As practitioners who worked in this space for years, my co-founders and I know firsthand the challenges facing IT and Security as data grows exponentially. What worked over the last ten years simply cannot keep up with the needs of businesses today, let alone over the next ten years,” said Clint Sharp, co-founder and CEO of Cribl. “We started Cribl to solve these real problems for real users. Today’s funding proves the value in that approach. It’s an incredible milestone, but only a step in our journey to create a generational company that will continue to evolve to meet our customers’ needs.”

“At Sophos, we’ve found Cribl to be invaluable when it comes to addressing some of our most complex data processing challenges. CIAM Leader Extends Commitment to Standards and Data Security and Announces Recertification of SOC 2 and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines

Strivacity, a leading provider of customer identity and access management (CIAM) solutions, earned two new certifications, while renewing two existing certifications, as part of its continued effort to ensure data security for clients and consumers.

Strivacity earned PCI DSS, or Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard, and FIDO2 certifications and recertified SOC2, or Service Organization Control Type 2, and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) certifications. These credentials provide third-party recognition of the company’s commitment to safeguarding the data of business clients and their customers.

“Data and identity safety and security are of utmost concern to any online operation,” said Keith Graham, Strivacity co-founder and CEO. “Strivacity is committed to protecting data and adhering to standards while simplifying customer sign-up and sign-in processes.”

The four certifications cover key industry standards, including payment, authentication, and internal controls.

    • PCI DSS helps ensure the security of credit card transactions and minimize fraud.
    • The FIDO Alliance promotes authentication standards including the use of passkeys to simplify login while reducing phishing and enhancing scalability. FIDO2 provides enhanced security for users accessing their accounts via mobile or desktop.
    • SOC2, launched by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, helps to ensure organizations have sufficient internal controls in place to manage security and trust.
    • WCAG, a Voluntary Product Accessibility Template standard, addresses online accessibility, ensuring that Strivacity solutions are readily usable for all individuals.

“We will continue to push for secure and efficient customer identity and access management solutions, including aligning with evolving safety and security standards,” said Graham. “I’m proud of our team and their efforts to make e-commerce and all other online activity safe and secure for clients and their customers.”

Successful integration of key Mavenir network functions into Whitestack’s Open Telco Cloud platform based on Intel technology

Mavenir, the cloud-native network infrastructure provider building the future of networks, and Whitestack, an open source-based developer of Telco Cloud solutions, today announce successful completion of a technology alignment that enables Mavenir’s Cloud-Native IMS solution to be seamlessly integrated into Whitestack’s Telco Cloud platform – demonstrating Mavenir’s pivotal expertise in facilitating cloud-native deployments. The collaboration was initiated as part of a deployment with a leading Tier 1 operator in Latin America and harnesses the power and performance capabilities of the Intel Xeon processor and Intel Ethernet technology.

Empowering mobile operators to deploy telco workloads on its cloud solutions is a fundamental aspect of Mavenir’s cloud-native strategy. Today’s announcement marks the achievement of full integration with Whitestack’s Telco Cloud solution – offering telco operators a wider array of flexible options for deploying Mavenir’s solutions – and underscores the continued expansion of the telecom ecosystem aimed at liberating operators from legacy or monolithic solutions

The two companies are capitalizing on industry momentum, following significant announcements from operators adopting cloud infrastructure for critical network functions. This trend is generating substantial interest from traditional operators. To meet this clear demand, Mavenir and Whitestack are offering a compelling performance-to-cost ratio, making the transition to cloud solutions an easy decision.

“We are very pleased to have completed the integration process in a reasonable timeframe, thanks in part to our experience with other Telco Clouds and Whitestack’s flexibility in adjusting their data plane configuration to maximize our performance,” said Brandon Larson, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Mavenir’s Cloud, AI & IMS Business Strategy. He added: “As the industry moves towards cloud infrastructure, cloud solutions must be adapted to be suitable for telco workloads,” says Brandon Larson. “In order to accomplish this, it takes companies like Mavenir that have developed a specialized skillset in both cloud and telco.”

Mavenir’s Cloud-Native IMS solution is based on a microservices architecture comprising Containerized Network Functions (CNFs) that adopt cloud-native principles, offering voice services that leverage the intrinsic benefits of Kubernetes to ensure high availability. This solution operates on Whitestack’s Telco Cloud platform under an automated deployment model.

“One of the many key aspects of a Telco Cloud, compared to a regular private cloud, is the ability to utilize advanced techniques for accelerating network function performance,” said José Miguel Guzmán, Telco/NFV Business Development Manager, Whitestack. “Each application has its own processing, memory, disk, and traffic profile. In WhiteCloud, we have granular control over these aspects, allowing us to provide each VNF or CNF with the optimal hardware settings to maximize their throughput, mixing and matching legacy and new-generation servers.”

“Server configurations based on Intel Xeon processors include new features designed to accelerate user traffic. When combined with the Intel Infrastructure Power Manager software and Intel Ethernet E810 Controller, these configurations allow service providers to drive optimization of their infrastructure for performance, energy efficiency and space in the telco data center,” said Alex Quach, VP Network and Edge Group, Intel.

Whitestack has emerged as a key player in the open infrastructure space in Latin America, supplying dozens of Tier 1 data centers in the region with a Telco Cloud solution based on open-source technology. Its offering includes whitebox networking, high-capacity optics systems, and COTS servers powered by Intel Xeon processors.

Mavenir, Whitestack and Intel will be participating at the Open Telco Cloud Summit 2024 in Mexico City on September 3rd 2024 – register to attend in person or virtually.
